Welcome to the Barrow Hill Primary School website.  We are a small, but growing, primary school and nursery located in the village of Barrow Hill, near Chesterfield in Derbyshire. We currently have 97 children on roll from nursery up to year 6. 

At Barrow Hill Primary Academy we are #ProudToBeBarrowHill.  We believe it is important for our children to have a sense of local identity and work in partnership with local community groups.

We will achieve this by creating a culture of learning and discovery that is stimulating and enjoyable for both children and staff. We #dreambig and make learning fun. Our aim is to inspire children to be ambitious, resilient, life-long learners and responsible citizens.

Our school ethos is centred around giving our children real-life, purposeful learning opportunities to inspire them to 'dream big' in their own lives. We are a growing and improving school and we pride ourselves that we know each and every child inside out. We do our best to help each child find their strengths and talents so that they will flourish, be supported and be challenged.

We work closely with our families to ensure that all children achieve their potential across our community, having relentlessly high expectations for ourselves and others. 

As a school we are passionate about working as part of a collaborative learning community. We work closely with the other trust schools as well as the Staveley cluster group to share excellent practice to improve outcomes for every child. We are also part of the 4Derbyshire Teaching Schools Alliance and have links with around 35 other schools in Derbyshire.  We are also closely linked to the East Midlands West Maths Hub where I work as an NCETM Mastery maths Specialist.  In this role I work with 11 schools in the Derbyshire area.
